Cynthia Sass, among other things, mentions an interesting way to calculate the amount of calories you need per day. If you're at a weight you want to maintain and you have a job that requires you to sit for many hours without much exercise; multiple your weight (in pounds) by
x10. If you exercise at least 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week, multiple your weight (in pounds) by
x15 and the number you come up with is your daily caloric allowance.
