Shirataki Noodles + Walden Farms Sauce = 0 Kcal Meals!

6.9.11 After having been on a successful pre-summer diet&workout session for over a month and having exhausted almost all of my options for healthy dishes, a friend of mine suggested that I eat "Shirataki Noodles." Only three days later and thousands of miles away, another health-conscious friend told me to try them too. So I started researching about this much filling, low-carb, low calorie Japanese dish. Here is a quick summary of what I found: also called konnyaku noodles, Shirataki noodles are thinner than wheat noodles and contain almost no calories or carbonhydrates. They are made out of the konnyaku plant and contain a dietary fiber called glucomannan. According to some reports, benefits of these noodles include low blood sugar, improvements in cholesterol level and weight loss, which is why nowadays you can see diets including Shirataki noodles in their programs. Even though they have existed for a very long time in Asia, Shirataki noodles are becoming popular all around the world and can be purchased at your local Asian market or at Whole Foods. Since they don't have a flavor on their own, don't forget to mix them with tasty vegetables or try one of the calorie-free sauces at Walden Farms!
