Is our massive appetite a product of multitasking?

5.18.2011 Had somewhat of an epiphany today. One of my favorite salads: baby spinach, blue cheese, cherry tomatoes, smoked turkey, onion, artichoke hearts with a bit of raspberry dressing. I've ordered my salad this way a couple of times and realized that the days I eat while multitasking, even if it's just browsing through tweets I end the salad wanting to eat more. However the days when I completely concentrate on the food, without even drinking too much of anything on the side I feel much more satisfied.  So should this be a rule of thumb? For the next week or two I'm going to put down & away everything when enjoying a dish, and lets see what happens!
